This document describes the ethical standards we apply to Jetsetter Guide’s editorial work. It complements our Editorial Policy, Editorial Guidelines, and Corrections Policy.

Accuracy and Fact-Checking

We aim to verify factual claims before publication, especially details that may affect a traveler’s planning decisions. This includes information about cruise lines, ships, ports, hotels, resorts, destinations, tour operators, outfitters, amenities, access, pricing, dates, route changes, opening timelines, and travel requirements.

Numerical claims, including passenger counts, ship dimensions, prices, fees, dates, rankings, and visitor statistics, should be checked against reliable sources such as operator data, official tourism statistics, port authorities, public records, company announcements, or reputable news and industry sources.

When a claim cannot be verified with sufficient confidence, we either remove it, attribute it clearly to the source, or use appropriate context so readers understand what is known and what may still be subject to change.

Source Credibility

We prefer primary sources whenever possible. These may include cruise lines, port authorities, hotels, resorts, tourism boards, destination marketing organizations, park services, government agencies, tour operators, outfitters, official press materials, interviews, and firsthand reporting.

For news, industry updates, and developing stories, we look for confirmation from established news organizations, wire services, reputable travel-trade publications, official statements, or direct sources. Social media may help identify a developing issue, but it should not be the sole basis for a factual claim unless the post itself is the subject of coverage.

We name or link to sources within articles where practical and useful for readers.

Originality and Plagiarism

We do not plagiarize. Quotes must be attributed. Paraphrased material should be rewritten in our own words and credited where appropriate.

Press releases, tourism board materials, cruise line announcements, hotel descriptions, and partner-provided information may be used as source material, but they should not be republished as editorial content without meaningful editing, context, and independent judgment.

We do not present another publication’s reporting, photography, analysis, or firsthand experience as our own.

Editorial Independence

Jetsetter Guide may work with advertisers, affiliate partners, tourism boards, cruise lines, hotels, resorts, public relations agencies, tour operators, outfitters, and destination partners. Those relationships do not determine our editorial conclusions.

We do not allow commercial partners to buy favorable editorial opinions, control our recommendations, or require positive coverage as a condition of access. Hosted travel, press trips, affiliate relationships, advertising, or sponsored campaigns do not guarantee coverage or favorable placement.

Sponsored Content and Advertising Disclosure

Sponsored articles, paid partnerships, advertisements, and promoted placements should be clearly labeled where applicable. Readers should be able to distinguish between independent editorial content and brand-controlled or paid promotional content.

Affiliate links and booking links may generate revenue for Jetsetter Guide. This does not change our editorial standards, and commercial relationships do not determine whether a destination, cruise, hotel, resort, or travel product is covered favorably.

Hosted Travel and Press Access

Travel journalism and travel publishing often involve hosted access, including press trips, complimentary accommodations, ship visits, meals, excursions, events, transportation, gear, or guided experiences.

When hosted access is material to a story, it should be disclosed where relevant. Hosted access does not guarantee positive coverage, and we reserve the right to publish honest impressions, decline coverage, or exclude experiences that do not meet our editorial standards.

Privacy and Reader Trust

How we handle reader data is detailed in our Privacy Policy. We use analytics and site data to understand how readers engage with our content and to improve the usefulness of the site.

We do not sell personal information. We aim to handle reader information responsibly and honor applicable opt-out requests.

Corrections, Retractions, and Accountability

Editorial decisions, including updates, corrections, clarifications, and retractions, are the responsibility of Jetsetter Guide’s editorial leadership.

If we publish inaccurate, misleading, or materially incomplete information, we aim to correct it in accordance with our Corrections Policy.
